Iron (III) complex with dextran 100 mg

Auxiliary substances:
Phenol 5 mg

Therapeutic indications
Prophylactic and therapeutic use during anemia resulting from iron deficiency. Suiferrin replenishes iron deficiencies in the body, stimulates the hematopoietic system to synthesize hemoglobin, and increases the number of erythrocytes.

Contraindications
Liver dysfunction and renal failure.
Hypersensitivity to iron dextran.
Anemia not related to iron deficiency.

Side effects
Iron dextran causes rare symptoms of anaphylactic shock in weaners and, in extreme cases, falls. The reasons may be genetic factors, lack of vitamin E or selenium. There may be irritation, swelling and a brown discoloration of the surrounding tissues at the injection site. With high vitamin E and / or selenium deficiencies in the sow’s diet, piglets may become hypersensitive to iron, manifested by nausea, vomiting and sudden death about one hour after administration of products containing iron compounds.

About the occurrence of side effects after administering this product or observing any disturbing symptoms not mentioned in the leaflet (including symptoms in humans as a result of contact with the drug), please notify the competent veterinarian, the responsible entity or the Office for Registration of Medicinal Products, Medical Devices and Biocidal Products. . Dosage for each species, route and method of administration
Use intramuscularly or subcutaneously.
Piglets, weaners: 2 ml / animal.
Calves: 4-8 ml / animal.

Special precautions for use in animals:
Iron dextran in piglets can cause anaphylactic shock. The reasons may be genetic factors, lack of vitamin E or selenium. If vitamin E and / or selenium deficiency is suspected, products containing iron compounds should not be administered.

The product should not be administered by routes other than recommended. Intravenous administration may lead to acute poisoning manifested mainly by anaphylactic shock. Animals may fall suddenly without any symptoms, or there may be nervous system symptoms: balance disorders, progressive depression leading to coma. Bloody vomiting, diarrhea or constipation may occur after oral administration of the product.

Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals:
Care should be taken to avoid accidental self-injection. In the event of accidental self-injection, immediately seek medical help and show the doctor the information leaflet or the packaging.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction:
The product should not be administered in parallel with oral iron-containing products.

It is not recommended to administer the product together with tetracyclines and chelating compounds, because iron ions can form sparingly soluble complexes with them, preventing absorption.

Overdose (symptoms, emergency procedures, antidotes):
In the event of an overdose of the product, gastrointestinal dysfunction may occur: vomiting, diarrhea or constipation. The excess of iron can cause shock, cardiac disturbances leading to collapse, shortness of breath and renal failure manifested by oliguria or anuria.

Symptoms of chronic iron poisoning result from impaired liver function due to iron accumulation in hepatocytes and Kupffer cells.

Pharmaceutical Incompatibilities:
As no compatibility studies have been performed, this veterinary medicinal product must not be mixed with other veterinary medicinal products.

Special precautions for the disposal of unused veterinary medicinal products or waste materials
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or with household waste. Ask your veterinarian about how to remove useless drugs. They will allow for better protection of the environment.

Glass bottle containing 100 ml or 250 ml of the product, packed individually in a cardboard box.

Period of validity
3 years for the veterinary medicinal product as packaged for sale. After first opening the immediate packaging, the product should be used within 28 days.
