Therapeutic indications

Insectin is intended to combat ectoparasite infestations: fleas and ticks in dogs and lice and ticks in pigeons.

Contraindications

Do not use in puppies under 12 weeks of age.
Do not use in lactating bitches.
Do not use in pigeons under 1 month of age.
Do not use in cats. The product can cause serious adverse reactions in cats, including death, therefore it should not be allowed to come into contact with the product. If dogs and cats are kept together they should be kept separate for 72 hours after treatment. Make sure that the cat does not lick the hair of the treated dog. If this occurs, you should immediately seek the help of a veterinarian.
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients.

Side effects

Dogs rarely experience undesirable side effects such as drooling, vomiting, diarrhea, moderate muscle tremors and hyperactivity going into a depressed state.
Birds are not very sensitive to the effects of permethrin. Side effects related to the stimulation of the nervous system are extremely rare.
About the occurrence of side effects after administering this product or observing any disturbing symptoms not listed in the leaflet (including symptoms in humans as a result of contact with the drug), please notify the competent veterinarian, the responsible entity or the Office for Registration of Medicinal Products, Medical Devices and Biocidal Products. . Dosage for each species, route and method of administration

Small dog: 5-10 g
Medium dog: 10-15 g
Large dog: 15-20 g
Pigeon: 1-2 g

10 applications – shaking the inverted container means applying 2.5-3.0 grams of the product to the skin.

Recommendations for correct administration

Use the product externally on the skin.
The product should be sprinkled on the entire body of the animal, spreading the fur or feathers to reach the skin. Avoid sprinkling the powder around the eyes, ears, nose and mouth of the animals. Leave the product for a few hours and then brush the coat.
Each time after the procedure, the animal’s bedding should be changed. The treatment should be repeated after 2-3 weeks.

Grace period

Dog – not applicable.
Do not use in pigeons whose tissues are intended for human consumption.

Special precautions for storage

Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
Store in a dry place at a temperature below 25 ° C.
Keep away from human food and animal feed.
Do not use this veterinary medicinal product after the expiry date stated on the label. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.

Special warnings
Special warnings for each target species:

Do not rub the product into the skin of animals.
For optimal flea elimination, it is recommended to use an appropriate insecticide in the place where the dogs stay (bedding, kennel, etc.). It is also recommended to control fleas in all animals kept together.

Special precautions for use in animals:

Do not lick the product.
Protect the animals’ eyes during the treatment.

Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals:

The treatment should be performed outside the living room. Avoid excessive dusting and inhalation of the product. During the procedures, use generally accepted precautions for handling parasiticidal preparations, in particular, the use of protective gloves and masks is recommended. Avoid contact with the eyes. Wash your hands after the procedure. In the event of accidental contact of the product with the skin or mucous membranes, immediately wash the contaminated area with clean water. Protect children from contact with the product and the treated animal. Animals treated with the product should not be allowed to play with people, especially children, until the product is removed from the body surface.
People with known hypersensitivity to permethrin should avoid contact with the veterinary medicinal product.

Other precautions:

Treated dogs should not be allowed to submerge in water bodies for at least 3 weeks following administration of the product.

Pregnancy and lactation:

Do not use during pregnancy and lactation.

Laying:

Do not use during the laying period.

Interaction with other medicinal products and other forms of interaction:

Unknown.

Overdose (symptoms, emergency procedures, antidotes), if necessary:

In the event of an overdose, symptomatic treatment should be intensive, as there is no specific antidote.
It is recommended to administer sedatives, anticonvulsants (diazepam, pentobarbital, propofol) and muscle relaxants.
Replenish the fluids by administering crystalloids (physiological sodium chloride solution or polyelectrolyte fluid).
It is also recommended to bathe the poisoned animal in lukewarm water with the addition of mild detergents in order to wash off the residual permethrin on the skin.

Pharmaceutical Incompatibilities:

As no compatibility studies have been performed, this veterinary medicinal product must not be mixed with other veterinary medicinal products.

Special precautions for the disposal of unused veterinary medicinal products or waste materials

The veterinary medicinal product is highly toxic to bees, fish and crustaceans.
Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or with household waste.
Ask your veterinarian about how to remove useless drugs. They will allow for better protection of the environment.
