Recommendations for correct administration
Way of giving:
Uncover the upper bars of the nest frames by lifting the cover over the place of application of the product (in hives without a cover, remove the cover bars at the place of application). Take one Api Life Var plate out of the bag and place it on the upper frame bars in one corner of the hive. Do not place the tiles in the central part of the hive and in the vicinity of the brood. You can also divide the plate into 3-4 parts and place them on the upper bars of the frames. Close the hive and leave the plate for 7 days. Repeat the treatment for another three weeks. After treatment is completed, the pieces of plaque remaining in the hive should be removed. Perform treatment after receiving the honey and removing the extensions. It is recommended to check the efficacy during treatment by checking the number of dusted mites on the bottom inserts. The optimum outside temperature for the drug to work effectively is below 30ºC. Average outdoor temperatures below 15ºC reduce the effectiveness of the product.
Grace period
Honey – zero days. Due to the intense smell of the product, do not use it when there is consumer honey in the hive.
Contraindications
Do not use at daytime temperatures above 30ºC, as it may increase the stress and mortality of both adult bees and brood.
Side effects
The bees can take food and brood directly from under the plate. The product may cause bee distress. The product may reduce food consumption by bees if feeding is carried out simultaneously with treatment. Do not use this veterinary medicinal product after the expiry date stated on the label. Shelf life after first opening the immediate packaging: use immediately.
Special warnings
Special warnings for each target species:
For maximum effectiveness, the product should be used at the end of summer, after the honey harvest, when the brood quantity is being reduced.
The ideal outdoor temperature for good efficacy of the product during treatment is 20-25ºC. Insufficient effectiveness is to be expected when the average outdoor temperature is below 15ºC. Carry out the treatment after removing the extensions. It is not recommended to use the product in multi-body hives due to the possible reduction in the effectiveness of the therapy.
Special precautions for use in animals:
In order to reduce the risk of secondary infections of treated colonies by stray bees from untreated colonies and to avoid robbery, all colonies in a given apiary should be treated simultaneously. Avoid disturbing the bees. Do not place the tiles in the central part of the hive and in the vicinity of the brood. Never place plates directly next to the feeder as this may reduce food intake. Avoid robbery by keeping strong and well-balanced families in the apiary. If signs of robbery are noticed, do not conduct treatment. In periods of high external temperatures, the plates should be placed in the hive early in the morning or before sunset, which will enable the gradual release of active substances and reduce disturbance of the bees.
